If you do not inform us within one working day of a bank transfer being made, the charity will receipt it as ‘Zakat’ in the ‘Most Needy’ project, as an anonymous donation. If you wish your donation to be ‘anonymous’ but have a specific intention and project, then please call or email with these details along with the reference used – or, if able, provide these details as reference on your donation.

Donations have the power to transform and save lives.
They provide food for the hungry, medical care for the sick, and education for children in need. This means that every penny you donate is used exclusively for charitable efforts abroad, including project delivery costs.
Like any organization, Our Ummah Trust has essential operational costs in the UK, including staff salaries, utility bills, rent, accounting, legal fees, and fundraising expenses.
So, how does Our Ummah Trust cover these costs while maintaining a 100% donations policy?
The charity operates a parellel fund raising through independent sources, as outlined below:
1. Donation specified for Administration cost.
2. Gift Aid - Tax relief claimed on donations.
3. Profit from Partner Retail Shop / Online Stores / Local Businesses
4. eBay Sales for Charity
5. Proceeds from Recycling projects - Recycle 4 Charity - Donate empty Ink Toners.

Our Ummah Trust has linked up with some fundraising platforms to provide you with an easy and effective way to collect sponsors and money for your own fundraising campaigns. With Our Ummah Trust every single pound we receive through fundraising platforms, such as Muslimgiving, JustGiving and Givebrite, is allocated towards a fundraiser’s intended project.
It takes just five minutes to set up your own web page on such platforms. For JustGiving, and follow the instructions to build your page. Once your page is complete, you can forward the page’s address to family, friends and colleagues. They will then be able to donate online with a credit or debit card.
Advantages of setting up your own page
1. It’s quick and easy.
2. Forget about the hassle of cash and cheques.
3. It can be personalised. Include your own message and update the page as your fundraising progresses.
4. Ask friends overseas to donate as well.
5. It’s available to all, so you could be raising money from people you’ve never met.
6. Every time someone sponsors you, you receive an email notification.
7. Access a page which gives you a breakdown of the money you raise through your campaign.
Important Information
Depending on the type of payment and card used, the fundraising platform may deduct a certain amount from the money donated. For JustGiving, see justgiving.com/info/fees.
For projects with fixed prices, you should set your target slightly higher than the sum required on any fundraising platform that deducts fees, such as JustGiving.
If the project you have chosen to fundraise for accepts Zakat donations then we recommend you include the following sentence on your fundraising page: ‘If you wish to donate your Zakat, please note that a small charge is applied by JG prior to forwarding your donation to the Trust. Therefore, to ensure you have paid the sufficient amount for your Zakat to be covered please follow this link: justgiving.com/
Please ensure any projects that you are fundraising for are being implemented by Our Welfare Trust. Stay updated via the website.
For fundraising events or activities, please seek Our Ummah Trust’s advice. The charity will advise in line with its policies, however it will not be held responsible for any methods of fundraising used by individuals or groups, nor their consequences.
To ensure your fundraising progress can be tracked, please email us before starting your page.
Donations towards any of the projects can only be allocated to it so long as the project is running. Any money donated after it has closed will be allocated to the relevant country and ‘Most Needy’ project.
All UK Gift Aid for any donation through these platforms will also go towards the intended project.
Our Ummah Trust aims to spend every donation within 12 months. If you’re fundraising for a specific construction project, such as a masjid or water well, and intend to sponsor an entire unit, please be aware that there is a 12-month fundraising window. After this time, your funds will be directed towards your chosen project.
If you meet the unit cost within the 12 month window, the project will be added to the construction queue and completed within its specified timeframe, inshaAllah. However, once the window has closed, if the total amount raised has not met the cost for a complete unit, the funds will be contributed to the project’s general pool.
